Electric Vehicle Charging

Cal Poly Humboldt is committed to supporting Electric Vehicles as a sustainable transportation option for our campus community, as they help to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions and improve ambient air quality. The University provides employees, students, and visitors with Electric Vehicle Charging Stations to encourage their use of electric vehicles. Campus charging stations are a simple way to “top-off” while on campus.

Charging your vehicle at Humboldt is a privilege and is available on a first-come-first-served basis. The University does not guarantee that a charging station will be available and it should not be depended on as a sole means of charging. The University assumes no responsibility or liability for damage to a privately owned plug-in electric vehicle (POEV) using the Charge Point® stations.

Creating a ChargePoint Account

1. Get the ChargePoint app, available for iPhone and Android.
2. Select ‘Create account’ to start the process.
3. Fill in the ‘Create account’ screen with your basic information, accept the ‘Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and hit ‘Next’ to continue.
4. Fill out the ‘Add payment’ screen (or skip it).

Tip
When you create your account, you can provide payment info so you’ll be ready to charge wherever you go, even at stations with a fee. If you only use free stations, you’ll never be charged.

5. You can start a charge at any time with your phone. Request a ChargePoint card during sign-up if you’d like one as a backup.
6. Tell us what car you drive in the EV information section. This helps us estimate how long it will take to charge your car.
7. Choose how you want to get updates about charging in the Notifications section.
8. That’s it! Now you can find places to charge wherever you go.
