Parking is extremely limited and the purchase of a permit does not guarantee you a parking location, therefore we encourage alternate forms of transportation.

  • JackPass - unlimited free ride access on all local transit systems during the fall & spring semesters

  • Zipcar - car sharing, an alternative to car rental and car ownership

  • Homeward Bound- provides students with discounted round-trip transportation from Arcata directly to San Francisco or Los Angeles. Service is offered for Fall Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break

  • Humboldt Bikeshare - 20 bikes at 4 stations and affordable pricing

We strongly encourage you to leave your vehicle at home and utilize these options!

Reminder!!

Parking meters and parking fees must be paid Monday-Thursday 7:00 am - 10:00 pm and Friday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, every week (52 weeks) of the year.

Parking fees are not required Fridays after 5:00 pm or on Saturdays and Sundays.

All other regulations are in effect 24 hours a day, every day of the year.  This includes Service & Yellow Loading Zones, Disabled & Reserved stalls, and Fire Lanes.

Free Vehicle Jump Starts & Lock Out Services

Imagine getting in your car after a hard day's night, putting your keys in the ignition, and getting... nothing. Your car will not start. The lights won't turn on. The power windows work. The battery is dead. Unless you have a friend in the area with jumper cables, you are probably out of luck. Or suppose you get in your car and realize you forgot an important file. You race back to your office to retrieve it, only to find that you locked your keys in your car. You could call a locksmith, or a roadside assistance service. Your other alternative is to phone University Police, who will dispatch someone to assist you, at no cost, in approximately 15 minutes. Simply call (707) 826-5555 (ext. 5555 from a campus phone) and a Parking Officer will be sent to your location.

*The City of Arcata operates its own parking enforcement program including meters surrounding the campus.  The City of Arcata meters are labeled City of Arcata.  The City of Arcata is currently enforcing permit parking, timed parking, and meters.  For more questions on City of Arcata parking call 707-822-2428.
